DEVELOPMENT

Works in development.

THE BONE SPARROW

Subhi is a refugee. Born in an Australian permanent detention centre after his mother fled the violence of a distant homeland, life behind the fences is all he has ever known. But as he grows, his imagination gets bigger too, until it is bursting at the limits of his world.

Produced by Pilot Theatre (UK) with York Theatre Royal, Derby Theatre, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, and Mercury Theatre Colchester.

THE JUNGLE AND THE SEA

A mother, in a time of war. She loses members of her family, one after the other – but she never loses hope. The Jungle and the Sea leans on two great pillars of literature – Antigone and the Mahābhārata – to forge a new story about surviving loss and the possibility of reconciliation.

Produced by Belvoir Theatre, in association with Lingalayam Dance Company.

THE LAUGH OF LAKSHMI

The Laugh of Lakshmi is a feature film about a mother and her son – both dancers – separated during Sri Lanka’s civil war and years later reunited in modern day Sri Lanka.

Produced by Felix Media. Development supported by Screen Australia.

WHEN THE TIDE COMES IN

An exploratory, multi-platform artwork immersing audiences in an imagined Australian future.

Teaser shows have been performed at Carriageworks and Riverside Theatres.
